Kilimanjaro Records: Legendary Climbs And Achievements
Legendary Kilimanjaro climbs are defined by speed records, the youngest and oldest summiteers, celebrity ascents, and specific routes like the scenic Machame and the beginner-friendly Marangu. Notable records include Karl Egloff’s 4 hours, 56 minutes ascent and Anne Lorimor’s 2019 summit at 89 years old, while the youngest was 5-year-old Ognjen Živković. Actor Brian Blessed was the first celebrity to climb the mountain in 1988, and “Iceman” Wim Hof set a record for a group climb in 2015.
Unexpectedly, many people have become record holders as a result of climbing Kilimanjaro. Uhuru Peak has witnessed a wide variety of accomplishments from the quickest and slowest climbs to athletes, musicians, and newlyweds. There were many who wanted to climb to the peak for the glory, and there were others who wanted to raise money for charity. A new compilation of Kilimanjaro expedition records highlighting these outstanding achievements is proudly presented by Kilimanjaro Trekking Services Co.
